EERE Announces New Plant-Wide Energy Assessment Solicitation
April 25, 2002EERE recently announced a new solicitation for plant-wide energy assessment proposals. Through this competitive process, EERE will select up to nine proposals to fund assessments in industrial manufacturing facilities.
The plant-wide energy assessments are a way to help accelerate the development and use of advanced energy-efficient, technologies, and practices throughout industry. These assessments are performed in industrial plants through EERE BestPractices program.
EERE will fund up to $100,000 per award. To ensure industrial involvement in each proposal, EERE requires a minimum of 50% non-federal cost-share for these plant-wide assessment projects. Ideally, applicants will reflect a broad range of IOF industries and assessment methods and will not duplicate assessments conducted under prior solicitations.
Only proposals from the nine Industries of the Future (IOF) are considered. Those industries are agriculture, aluminum, chemicals, forest products, glass, metal casting, mining, petroleum, and steel.
The solicitation is open from April 10-June 6, 2002.
