Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

D. Drew Bond was appointed by President George W. Bush as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. As a part of the commercialization and deployment team, Mr. Bond is focused on identifying and addressing opportunities to accelerate the time between when energy efficient and renewable technologies are researched and developed to when they are introduced and sufficiently scaled up into the marketplace.

Mr. Bond brings a breadth and depth of public and private, profit and non-profit experience to U.S. Department of Energy.

His time in the private sector encompasses a diversity of experiences, including: President & CEO of Townhall.com, a start-up company in Washington, DC; a partner in Aiken Bond Development, a small, high-end real-estate development company in Alabama; Chief-of-Staff of The Heritage Foundation, a non-profit conservative "think-tank" in Washington, DC; a Healthcare Sales Representative for Pfizer, in Charlotte, NC; and a brief stint at Burson-Marsteller in Washington, DC, an international public relations firm.

Mr. Bond began his public sector experience in Washington, DC as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Don Nickles (R-OK), where he was responsible for a number of public policy issues including banking, campaign finance reform, education, labor, Social Security and welfare reform. Later returning to his home state of Oklahoma, he served as Chief-of-Staff to Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Denise Bode, with a focus on regulating the state's energy resources.

Born in Texas and raised primarily in Oklahoma, Mr. Bond graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He now resides with his wife and three children in Arlington, VA. Together, they are active in their church and community, including serving as a foster care family for young neglected and abused children.
