EERE Management
Alexander "Andy" Karsner
Assistant Secretary
Alexander "Andy" Karsner was unanimously confirmed by the Senate as Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) on March 16, 2006 and sworn-in by Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman on March 23, 2006. Assistant Secretary Karsner manages the Department of Energy's (DOE) $1.74 billion EERE office, which promotes the development and marketplace integration of renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies, as well as the preservation and efficient use of our nation's valuable resources.
John Mizroch
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary
John F. Mizroch was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). In this capacity, Mizroch is responsible managing the programs, staff and policies of EERE and interfacing with constituent groups in the efficiency and renewable energy sectors.
Paul Dickerson
Chief Operating Officer
Paul Dickerson, J.D., CPA, was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). In this capacity, Dickerson is responsible for day-to-day operational oversight and management of the Office of the Assistant Secretary and for directing the implementation of the EERE priorities, policies, program development and execution, and strategic planning.
Rita Wells
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Business Administration
Rita Lappin Wells, PhD, is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Business Administration. In this capacity, she provides executive direction for the EERE Offices of Planning, Budget and Analysis; Program Execution Support; and Information and Business Management Systems in Washington, DC, as well as the EERE Project Management Center sites located at the Golden Field Office in Golden, Colorado, and at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) facilities in Morgantown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
David E. Rodgers
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency
David E. Rodgers is Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the U.S. Department of Energy. As Deputy Assistant Secretary, David supports the Assistant Secretary in day-to-day management of the EERE portfolio of energy efficiency programs including industrial, buildings, and vehicle technologies.
Steven Chalk
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Energy
Steve Chalk is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Energy in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Steve is responsible for managing the government's research, development, and commercialization efforts for clean and renewable energy technologies.
Amy Chiang
Director of International Affairs, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Amy Chiang is the Director of International Affairs for EERE. Ms. Chiang oversees all international energy efficiency and renewable energy activities for EERE. She also facilitates development of global partnerships, and leads public and private partnership outreach activities.
D. Drew Bond
Senior Advisor, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Drew Bond is the Senior Advisor and Director of Commercialization and Deployment for EERE. Bond is responsible for accelerating the deployment of emerging energy technologies into the marketplace. In this role, Bond works closely with various EERE program offices, national research laboratories, and private industry to increase our nation's energy security and enhance our economic prosperity.

Samuel F. Baldwin
Chief Technology Officer and Member
Sam Baldwin is a PhD. Physicist and currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Board of Directors for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mark Ginsberg
Member
Mr. Mark Ginsberg was appointed by the Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) to serve on the EERE Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2002. In that capacity, Mr. Ginsberg and the Board direct EERE policy, strategies, and budgets and serve as "ambassadors" for the organization.
