New Executive Order Accelerating Investment in Industrial Energy Efficiency

September 1, 2012

On August 30, President Barack Obama issued an Executive Order accelerating investments in industrial energy efficiency, including combined heat and power (CHP). The Order establishes a national goal of 40 GW of new, cost-effective CHP by 2020, encourages the development of best practice policies and investment models that address barriers to investment in industrial energy efficiency and CHP, directs the agencies to undertake a series of workshops, and facilitates the deployment of resources—including incentives and technical assistance—to encourage investment in industrial energy efficiency and CHP. This goal is aligned with that of the SEE Action Industrial Energy Efficiency and CHP Working Group and DOE's regional Industrial Energy Efficiency and CHP Dialogue Meetings are held in coordination with this Working Group.  Read the Executive Order.
