SolWest Renewable Energy Fair | "Neighbors Powering Community" is the theme of the tenth annual SolWest Renewable Energy Fair July 25-27, 2008 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day, Oregon. Admission includes over 50 free workshops on both off-grid and grid-intertied renewable energy (RE) and sustainable living topics. A pre-fair workshop will install a grid-intertied solar backup power system. Fifty exhibitors show tools for energy independence and lifestyle self-reliance, including solar, wind and agricultural resources. Keynote speaker Greg Pahl, author of The Citizen-powered Energy Handbook emphasizes renewable resources for neighborhood energy. Alternative vehicle displays highlight efficient transportation technology. Cost is $5 per adult per day, with weekend, youth, and family discounts, volunteers and children under 12 free.
