Funding Organization: Solar Energy Technologies Program
Funding Number: DE-FOA-0000089
Summary:
MURA encourages minority students to pursue careers in science and technology. Through this activity, the research associates engage in solar energy research projects and help to develop cost-competitive, market-applicable technologies. The key objectives of MURA are to:
- Strengthen the research and education capabilities of minority serving institutions in renewable energy technologies and market development;
- Encourage minority students to excel in science and technology by providing them with practical experience and training through research projects in solar energy technologies and market development;
- Broaden the scientific, technical, and market development knowledge and resource base in solar technologies;
- Contribute to making electricity generated from solar technologies cost-competitive with conventional sources of electricity.
For more information, see the full solicitation.
Additional Information:
All areas of solar energy technology research are of interest including, but not limited to, the following study topics: Photovoltaic (PV) materials and devices; Concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies; Manufacturing issues of solar components and systems; Measurements and testing; Studies of applications, markets, market development, and impacts of solar systems. The research may involve a wide range of experimental work including laboratory studies; designing, building, and testing of systems; market, policy, and economic studies; and curriculum development for middle schools, high schools, and colleges on renewable energy . A wide diversity of responses to the FOA is encouraged. Awards will support undergraduate and graduate students and their faculty advisors. Recognizing the importance of continuity of educational opportunities for students, each award will be up to 3 years in duration.
