U.S. Department of Energy - Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Solar Energy Technologies Program – Solar America Initiative
National Laboratories
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories support the Solar America Initiative in three major areas:
- Modeling (e.g., see the Solar Advisor Model) and analytical support for funding opportunities and technical monitoring
- Independent testing and evaluation of deliverables for partners
- Research and development support.
National laboratory facilities and personnel will support the goals of the Solar America Initiative through:
- Cooperation with research and development partners on commercial and manufacturing prototype technology
- Non-technology laboratory-scale prototype technology
- Long-term, potentially revolutionary research and development
- Access by the research and development partners.
