    DOE Support of CSP

    November 4, 2004

The U.S. Department of Energy will support efforts to install a total of 1,000 MW of concentrating solar power (CSP) systems over the next several years. Through a 5-year cooperative, cost-shared agreement first proposed by the Western Governor's Association, DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy will provide $90,000 for the 1st year along with expertise on CSP systems for the 5-year span. The total estimated cost of the 5-year project is $1,860,000 including DOE's contribution. WGA and the involved Western states will provide a cost share of $61,690 in the first year, with more anticipated in years 2-5.
