Thin Film Photovoltaics Research

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) supports research and development of four thin-film technologies on the path to achieving cost-competitive solar energy, including:

• Amorphous Silicon (a-Si)
• Cadmium Telluride (CdTe)
• Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide (CIGS)
• Copper Zinc Tin Sulfide/Selenide (CZTSSe) and Earth-Abundant Materials.
