Alternative Fuel Vehicle Specifications and Test Procedures

The alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) testing consisted of two parts:

  • AFV Fleet Evaluation projects were designed to collect and provide objective information on real-world fleet experiences with alternative fuel vehicles. These projects assessed the performance and costs of AFVs compared with similar gasoline vehicles and demonstrated how well AFVs met the vehicle needs of fleets.
  • AFV Performance Evaluation projects focused on evaluating specific vehicles or specific aspects of individual vehicle performance, including driveability and emissions.
