Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid Electric Vehicle Accelerated Reliability Testing – April 2009
Two Chevrolet Silverado hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) entered accelerated reliability testing in one fleet in Arizona during September 2004. After reaching 160,000 miles each, the two HEVs will have their traction batteries tested before being retired.
Fact sheets and maintenance logs for these vehicles give detailed information such as miles driven, fuel economy, operations and maintenance requirements, operating costs, and life-cycle costs.
The two Silverado HEVs (one is four-wheel-drive and one is two-wheel-drive) have been driven a total of 320,876 miles and the cumulative average fuel economy for the two Silverado HEVs is 17.9 miles per gallon. The 2x2 Silverado HEV is averaging 18.0 mpg after 160,539 miles and the 4x4 Silverado HEV is averaging 17.8 mpg after 160,337 miles. Note that neither vehicle operated during September 2007, so September 2007 is not reported.
