NEVAmerica Baseline Performance Testing Summaries
A neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) is defined as a "low-speed vehicle" (LSV) by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 500. According to FMVSS No. 500, a LSV is a vehicle: (a) that is four-wheeled, (b) has a top attainable speed in 1 mile of more than 20 miles per hour (mph) and not more than 25 mph on a level paved surface, and (c) has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 2,500 pounds.
