About EPAct Transportation Regulatory Activities

The Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct 1992) established several transportation-related regulatory activities. Active initiatives include a regulatory program requiring covered fleets to acquire alternative fuel vehicles or reduce petroleum use, and a petition process authorizing the addition of new fuels to the list of EPAct 1992 alternative fuels. Previous but still relevant activities revolved around private and local government fleets and a national long-term goal to replace motor fuel with non-petroleum fuels.
