U.S. Trade Deficit, 2001 and 2002
In calendar year 2002, the U.S. trade deficit in goods totaled $484 billion, which is $57 billion more than the previous year's deficit. Nearly half of the 2002 trade deficit is transportation-related: petroleum (19.2%) and vehicles, engines, and parts (25.9%).
