State Average Fuel Prices, 2003 vs. 2004

The American Automobile Association tracks gasoline prices across the nation and publishes state averages. The 10 states with the highest prices are shown in red. The 10 states with the lowest prices are shown in blue. The top graph shows 2004 prices (March 16, 2004), while the bottom graph shows prices for almost one year ago (April 22, 2003). The states with the largest per gallon price changes in that time period are Georgia, Maine, Missouri, and Iowa, whose prices rose by 20 cents or more.
