New Medium and Heavy Truck Registrations by Fuel Type, 2004

Trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 10,000 lb and over are predominantly diesel-fueled. In 2004, 100% of the 202,000 new Class 8 trucks registered were fueled by diesel. Trucks in class 4, weighing 14,000–16,000 lb GVW, had the highest share of gasoline trucks newly registered in 2004.
