Fact #464: April 9, 2007
Carbon Dioxide Emissions

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the transportation sector began to outpace CO2 emissions from the industrial sector in the late 1990's. The industrial sector's CO2 emissions were greater than the other sectors, but began to decline about the year 2000, while CO2 emissions from the transportation sector have continued to increase. The residential and commercial sectors also show increased CO2 emissions in this time frame.
