Statistics on Class 1, Class 2a, and Class 2b Light Trucks

According to a recent study by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, there are about 5.8 million trucks between 8,500 and 10,000 lb gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Those trucks, termed Class 2b trucks, represent about 6% of light truck sales and almost 8% of the light truck population. Most light trucks — both sales and population — are less than 6,000 lb.
