Relationship between Vehicle Miles and the Number of Vehicles in a Household

Household vehicles traveled an average of 25 miles a day, according to the 2001 National Household Travel Survey. Households with two vehicles have the highest average daily vehicle miles of travel (VMT) 27 miles.
