Registration
DEER08 begins on Monday, August 4, with Conference sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concludes on Thursday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m.
Registration Requirements:
Due to a federal agency policy prohibiting the collection of conference registration fees, there will be no registration fees to attend the DEER 2008 Conference. However, space is limited to 950 registrants per day. There will be three categories of registration as follows:
FULL CONFERENCE WITH 2-NIGHT MINIMUM HOTEL STAY
This "reserved" full conference registration requires a 2-night minimum hotel stay. It includes admission to all sessions, networking functions, and poster sessions during the conference. To qualify you must make your hotel reservation for a two-night minimum stay at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn Hotel. The rate for a single or double occupancy room is $131 plus tax per night. This room rate includes a continental breakfast and AM/PM refreshment breaks in the conference area.
There will be 800 full conference registrations available in this category, on a first-come, first-served basis. Advanced registration is required.
To expedite your registration in this category, follow the steps below:
- Contact the Hyatt Regency Dearborn Hotel to make your reservation. Please call +1 (800) 633-7313 or +1 (313) 593-1234 and mention the DEER08 room block or use the online hotel reservations link.
- Use the DOE Events online conference registration system.
- Complete the profile information, enter your hotel confirmation number and select your category of registration.
- Verify the information submitted to complete your conference registration.
- Once the DEER Registration Office has confirmed that your registration meets the requirements, you will receive an email confirmation (within 5-7 working days) of your "reserved" full conference registration.
If you elect to make your hotel reservations at a later date, you may call +1 (800) 633-7313 or +1 (313) 593-1234 and mention the DEER08 room block or use the online hotel reservations link. All reservations need to be made by July 11, 2008. After July 11, the hotel may have rooms available at these conference rates on a space-available basis only. A two-night deposit will be charged to your credit card by the hotel on July 14, 2008.
Please note that if you stay at another hotel or register at the hotel through a third-party website (hotels.com, Travelocity.com, etc.), your registration will fall into either the Full Conference with Voluntary Food & Beverage Charge or the One-Day Only with Voluntary Food & Beverage Charge category.
If you are locally based in the Dearborn area and cannot be reimbursed by your company for hotel accommodations, you should register in one of the following categories:
FULL CONFERENCE WITH VOLUNTARY FOOD & BEVERAGE CHARGE
Register as a full conference registrant with no hotel stay. This includes admissions to the sessions. If you elect to attend the networking events and poster sessions, it requires a Food & Beverage charge of $280. This charge is voluntary and if you do not wish to participate in the food & beverage functions, you can register to attend the conference sessions only, with no food & beverage.
There will be 100 full conference registrations available in this category, on a first-come, first-served basis. Advanced registration is recommended. However, if space is still available you can register on-site.
ONE-DAY ONLY WITH VOLUNTARY FOOD & BEVERAGE CHARGE
The one-day registration includes admission to all sessions that day. If you elect to attend the networking events and poster session, it requires a Food & Beverage charge of $100 per day. This charge is voluntary and if you do not wish to participate in the food & beverage functions, you can register to attend the conference sessions only, with no food & beverage.
There will be 50 one-day only registrations per day. These registrations will only be available on-site on the day you register and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You cannot register in advance for a one-day only registration.
Cancellations/Substitutions:
Registration cancellations will be accepted until July 11, 2008. After this date, if you have registered in the category with the 2-night minimum hotel stay you will be charged for your two-night minimum stay at the hotel, and only substitutions can be made.
You may substitute attendees at any time by sending written notice of the change to the DEER registration office.
Please note that if you cancel your hotel reservation for any reason, your "reserved" full conference registration will also be cancelled. If you are making a substitution on your registration, you must also make the change to your hotel reservation.

Register Now - Space is Limited!
Online registration is available from now until July 28, 2008. Registration is only open to 900 full conference registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. If space fills up, you will be put on a waiting list, and we will contact you if there is an opening.
You will receive immediate email confirmation of receipt of your registration application. After we have confirmed your hotel reservation, you will receive an email confirmation of your "reserved" full conference registration.
