Located about 135 miles from Portland, Shepherds Flat generates up to 845 megawatts of wind power everyday -- enough clean electricity to power nearly 260,000 homes. Since its launch, Shepherds Flat has been a boon to the local economy -- creating 400 construction jobs and 45 permanent operation jobs. The project is supported by public and private sector investments, including a $1.3 billion partial loan guarantee from the Energy Department in 2010.

Get a glimpse of the Shepherds Flat wind farm by browsing through striking images of the facility in the slideshow on Energy.gov.

The Energy Department’s loan portfolio is designed to help America play to win in the global clean energy race. Learn more about the clean energy projects supported by this effort by visiting the Loan Program Office website.
