Tallest Minnesota Wind Project Now Operational
March 1, 2013
A 30-megawatt wind project in Minnesota that has the state's
tallest turbines is now operational. The Community Wind South Project in Nobles
County, Minnesota, has 15 wind turbines which stand 480 feet from the tower bases to the blade tips, developer juwi Wind said in a February 26 press release.
The developer also partnered with the community which has local ownership and
will profit from the project.
The project, which has been in development since 2003,
will generate enough electricity to serve about 10,000 homes. The energy is
being sold to Xcel Energy Inc. under a 20-year power purchase agreement. See
the juwi
Wind press release.
