Heating Program Offers Aid with Weatherization

The Detroit Free Press recently interviewed Al-Lishia Jackson, a Weatherization Assistance Program recipient in Michigan.

Trying to stay warm during the cold winter in Pontiac, Michigan can be a difficult task. To provide some form of heat, Ms. Jackson was forced to wear multiple layers of clothing in her home and use thick blankets as she slept. "It used to be very cold and drafty, but it's a lot warmer now," said Jackson after workers from the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency installed energy efficiency measures in her home. Funds for these measures were provided through the Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program as a result of the Recovery Act. Last year alone, the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency weatherized approximately 1683 homes in their service area.
