MFA Launches ‘Energy$mart’ Academy

Energy$mart Training Academy at New Mexico’s Santa Fe Community College offers specialized training to weatherization technicians. The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority using Department of Energy grant funds developed the “Training Academy” program which provides a learning experience for student technicians to acquire proficiency in building analysis, energy auditing, home energy ratings, lead dust sampling and safety along with practical skills development in operating specially designed training equipment to diagnose air leaks, learning proper sealing procedures, and practicing the installation of attic insulation.
