New Street Lights for State Street

More than 130 streetlights are being replaced on State Street within the next few weeks with more energy-efficient models, Ukiah Electric Utility Director Mel Grandi reported.

"They use about half the energy as the old ones," Grandi said of the replacements, explaining that the new lights will also emit a "whiter, more pleasing" light and are "dark-sky compliant," meaning the lights are designed to shine directly on the ground.  Read more about this story in the May 30 edition of the Ukiah Daily Journal.
