In 2009, nearly 765 billion kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity were consumed by lighting products in the United States, approximately 30% of those hours expended in buildings. Businesses, governments, families, and other consumers spend nearly $58 billion a year to light their factories, offices, homes, and streets, and reducing these high levels of energy consumption and costs is a challenge. The best practices, project resources, and other tools identified below can assist you in utilizing the new lighting technologies and products that are available today or that will soon be ready for commercial release.
