DOE Opens Building Job Task Analyses for Public Comment
October 19, 2011
As part of the Federal Building Personnel Training Act of 2010, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) developed six commercial building job task analyses (JTAs) and opened each for public comment. These JTAs include:
- Commercial Building Energy Auditors
- Commercial Building Energy Modelers
- Commissioning/Retro-Commissioning Authorities
- Energy/Sustainability Managers
- Facility Managers
- Operating Engineers/Building Technicians
Each of these job tasks are intended to help Federal and commercial building professionals identify opportunities to enhance professional skills; enable industry to identify an appropriately skilled workforce; and allow training providers to ensure the highest quality products possible.
In addition, these JTAs will be used by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to help meet Federal Building Personnel Training Act of 2010 requirements.
Since these JTAs will eventually be used to develop core competencies and curriculum for the Federal sector, the DOE Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) recommends that Federal agencies review the JTAs and provide comments within the 45-day comment period (due no later than November 28, 2011).
Public comments can be submitted through the DOE Commercial Building Initiative website until November 28, 2011.
