Basic Search

Search the Library

The basic search accesses the title, description, filename, and keywords for the search term(s) you enter. Enter your search term or phrase in the "Search the Library" box and then click the Search button. Search results will be displayed on the search results page.

Advanced Search

The advanced search accesses the title, description, filename, and keywords of the library for the search terms you entered. In addition you can use the advanced search criteria fields to enhance your results. Each additional search crtierion you use will aid in narrowing your search results.

For example:

  • Typing in "water" and clicking on the Search button may retrieve many search results.
  • If you make one or more selections from the "Information For" listing and click Search, your search results may be reduced to a smaller set.
  • To further narrow your results, try making a selection from the "Product Type" or "Office Name" listing and retry your search by clicking the Search button.

Browse by Topic

Use the "Browse by Topic" screen to select from a list of terms that describe EERE products and publications. When you click on a term, a search is initiated to look for publications and products related to that term. Make a selection from the "Information For" or "Information Type" list to filter your results by type.

For example:

  • Selecting "Solar Power" may retrieve many types of results.
  • Selecting "Consumers and Homeowners" from the "Information For" list will limit the result set to products and publications that interest consumers and homeowners and are related to solar power.

Using Search Results

PDF link

Publications that have a PDF version available are viewable by clicking the link (i.e., PDF 1.2 MB). In order to view the PDF documents you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader program or similar PDF-reading software installed on your computer.

View Related link

The view related link allows you to get a listing of publications or products that are categorized similarly to the publication you started with. The most closely related publications are listed first. Relationships get looser the further down the results list you browse.

Request by Mail link

EERE will send you complimentary copies of many of its publications and products. Use the request by mail link to add a publication to your list of requested publications. This is a free service within the United States.

Mail Requests

You may order limited copies of certain EERE publications and products. You'll find a request by mail link for many items. When you click on that link, a list will be created, similar to a shopping cart, to keep track of the items you want copies of. You can view the list by clicking on the Mail Requests button. There you can adjust the number of copies in your request or continue on to provide the information necessary to mail your requested items to you. Requested items are shipped via U.S. Mail at no cost to you.
