June 3, 2009
The U.S. Department of Energy Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) has issued a new funding opportunity announcement (FOA) titled “Recovery Act: Deployment of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems, District Energy Systems, Waste Energy Recovery Systems, and Efficient Industrial Equipment,” which is supported with funds appropriated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The purpose of this FOA is to solicit applications for cost-shared projects that will deploy sustainable energy infrastructure projects and energy efficient industrial technologies. The deadline for this opportunity is July 14, 2009, 8:00 PM ET.
This FOA will enable deployment of industrial technologies that provide 25% or greater improvement in energy efficiency over the currently-utilized equipment. The result will be deployment of technologies that will increase our national energy security, provide construction and manufacturing jobs, and build markets for skilled green construction. Approximately $156 million in DOE funding is expected to be available for new awards under this announcement, and all funds are expected to be expended from 1 to 3 years from the date of award.
There are four areas of interest:
- Combined Heat and Power
- District Energy Systems
- Industrial Waste Energy Recovery
- Efficient Industrial Equipment
Applications for this FOA should be submitted through FedConnect. Go to "Search Public Opportunities" and enter Reference Number DE-FOA-0000044. Visit ITP’s solicitations page for more detailed information about the application process.
