Turn-Key Demand Side Management (DSM) Lighting Tool Released on the ITP Utility Partnerships Web site

December 6, 2010

The Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) is announcing the release of a new Turn-Key DSM Lighting Tool designed to help small- and medium-sized utilities develop rebate programs for their industrial customers. This dynamic new tool includes a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) Tool which allows utility staff to input key data in order to create a model of their specific energy production and demand profiles and thus determine energy savings potential through implementation of an industrial DSM Lighting incentive program. The CBA Tool allows the user to set hourly demand levels for industrial, residential and commercial usage and allows several different types of electricity generation to be selected for a customized fit to any utility profile. Along with the CBA Tool, ITP has provided a step-by-step process to create a custom incentive program from scratch, providing information on seven common steps to:

  1. Establish a Budget and Goals
  2. Hire an Energy Services Manager
  3. Determine the Rebate Structure
  4. Develop Marketing Resources
  5. Partner with Trade Allies
  6. Deliver the Program
  7. Monitor Program Performance

Additional resources and boilerplate forms are available to facilitate the creation of a custom DSM Lighting incentive program for industrial customers.
