Fan Sourcebook Helps Improve System Performance
May 30, 2003
DOE's Industrial Technologies Program, together with the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA International), offer a new publication to help industrial plants improve fan system performance. Improving Fan System Performance: A Sourcebook for Industry is a valuable reference for plant/facility personnel that outlines opportunities. The sourcebook also offers practical guidelines and highlights related resources and tools available through DOE and industry.
This helpful desk reference describes why the "systems approach" is a cost-effective way to operate and maintain industrial fan systems. Using this approach, fan system operators analyze the supply and demand sides of the system and how they interact.
Use the sourcebook to:
- Learn or brush up on fan system basics
- Identify specific opportunities for improving fan system performance.
- Find resources from DOE, AMCA, and others in the fan marketplace.
The sourcebook contains three sections:
Introduction to Fan Systemshis discussion introduces the terms, relationships, and important system design considerations. This section describes the key factors involved in fan selection and system design, and provides an overview of fan types and their application.
Performance Improvement Opportunity Roadmapearn about the key components of fan systems and specific opportunities for improvements. A set of fact sheets describes these opportunities in detail.
Programs, Contacts, and Resourceseview this comprehensive list of associations and other organizations involved in the fan system marketplace. You will also find a listing of fan resources and tools, such as publications, software, training courses, and videos.
The sooner you learn about available fan system improvement opportunities, the sooner your company could begin improving fan system performance and the bottom line.
