EERE Releases Vehicle Technologies Incubator FOA
The Vehicle Technologies Office within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) issued the "Vehicle Technologies Incubator" Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) on January 16, 2014.
This FOA is part of a larger EERE effort to issue "Incubator" funding opportunities within existing programs to support innovative technologies. Potentially, these solutions could help meet existing goals but are not represented in a significant way in the Offices' existing Multi-Year Program Plans or current portfolios. The Incubator programs will allow EERE to assess new technologies for their potential to be "on ramped" to future multi-year program plans. Successful incubator projects will reduce the risk associated with breakthrough approaches and technologies.
The Vehicle Technologies Office's Incubator FOA areas of interest include but are not limited to:
- Energy Storage R&D
- Advanced Power Electronics and Electric Motors R&D
- Advanced Combustion Engine R&D
- Materials Technology
- Fuels and Lubricant Technologies
In addition to the above topic areas, this Vehicle Technologies Office Incubator FOA is open to applications that aim to bring to market a novel, non-incremental technology that facilitates the goal of developing efficient and environmentally friendly highway transportation technologies that will enable America to use less petroleum.
Applicants to this FOA must submit a concept paper by February 25, 2014 8:00 PM ET. Full applications are due on April 16, 2014 8:00 PM ET. Applications are accepted only through the EERE Exchange website.
Questions asked about this financial opportunity are posted to the EERE Exchange Frequently Asked Questions page.
Applicants can view the Vehicle Technologies Office's current plans in its Multi-Year Program Plan, the EV Everywhere Blueprint, the U.S. DRIVE Partnership Plan and Roadmaps, and the 21st Century Truck Roadmap and Technical White Papers.
