Step 5.2 Recognize success and communicate results

Transition to SEP

After implementing SEP™ requirements and conducting a management review of energy performance, your organization may be ready to apply for SEP certification and undergo an SEP audit. The SEP website and SEP Certification Protocol describe the SEP application process and steps involved with interacting with the SEP Administrator:

The SEP Certification and ISO 50001 Certification Process page explains the steps involved with preparing for certification.

  • When your organization is ready for an SEP audit, submit the SEP Enrollment and Application Form to the SEP Administrator following the instructions provided on the SEP website.
  • To avoid delays in processing the application, your organization should seek pre-approval from the SEP Administrator before submitting the SEP Enrollment and Application Form if you used alternate measurement and verification approaches described in the SEP M&V Protocol. Visit the web page on pre-approvals for alternative approaches to learn more and access the forms.
  • Select a Verification Body from the list of SEP Verification Bodies and Applicant Verification Bodies to conduct the SEP audit.

Upon certification, DOE will recognize your organization’s achievements on the SEP website. In addition, DOE will provide your organization with a package of materials, templates, and suggestions for promoting your accomplishments in trade and local media. This webpage on SEP recognition will be available in January 2015.

How to do it

The following actions are necessary once you are ready to apply for certification:
